Meet our Doctors

Sophia Benson, DVM

Rotating Veterinarian

As a DC native, I am thrilled to be back in the District as a new veterinarian. I was born and raised in NW DC and stayed in the area for college, graduating from Georgetown University in 2018. I had the fortunate opportunity to grow up around veterinary medicine and I saw, from an early age, the one-of-a-kind nature of this career. I graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine with high honors and certificates in Aquatic Animal Medicine and Veterinary Business Management in May 2024. I have strong interests in anesthesia & pain management, emergency medicine, and general practice. I chose to pursue further training at Friendship Hospital for Animals knowing its long history as being a robust, forward thinking, and strong specialty hospital. I look forward to being able to give back to the DC community that shaped me by providing excellent continuity of care under one roof through all the specialties FHA offers.

Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, listening to music, exploring new restaurants and corners of the city, and playing with my dachshund-beagle mix, Miss Bea. I am excited to be back in the area and start this new journey as a veterinarian!
